At Diplomatik, we believe it’s our team who make the difference between good service and great service, and we stand proudly by them as a pivotal part of our business. To garner an insight into daily life in the company, we’ve decided to get to have a quick chat with Sophia (Workforce Consultant) about life at Diplomatik.
Here’s what she had to say:
Thanks for chatting with us today Sophia! So tell us….why Diplomatik?
I started my career in Recruitment 7 years ago and what has always driven me is the passion I have of connecting the right person with the right job. As I evolved in this area of expertise however, I began to notice how drawn I was to the all the technologies available behind recruitment systems. This quickly become my focus area and it really was the factor that engaged me on a day-to-day basis.
What’s been the biggest challenge in the last 6 months?
I only joined Diplomatik back in November 2016 and being a technical specialist, my biggest challenge has definitely been around the steep learning curve of understanding the systems and applications! It was quite a task understanding how the systems ‘talk’ to each other to make sure our clients experience an easy user interface.
What’s been your best decision or experience in the last 6 months?
Joining Diplomatik has definitely been the best decision that I could have made for myself in the past half year. It has been an incredibly rewarding journey thus far as I have learned so much! I also absolutely love the working culture here.
How would you describe Diplomatik’s work culture?
We have a very open, transparent and supportive working environment where we are each encouraged to find and enhance our own areas of development. We also get plenty of guidance and support from our colleagues and managers, but what I love above all else is that we always tackle everything as a team.
What is it you feel you bring to Diplomatik and its clients?
I started the first half of my recruitment experience in Malaysia recruiting for roles in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines and later came to Australia where I have been involved in recruitment and sourcing strategies nationally across Australia. I believe this wealth of Recruitment experience in both the international and national markets is what I bring to the table, as well as being able to translate my understanding of these processes to help Diplomatik and its clients achieve better strategies at managing their people.
What is your favourite thing/s outside work?
There are 3 things most important to me in life: family, travelling and leading a healthy lifestyle. I spend a considerable chunk of my time focusing my energy on these outside of work, or at least trying to achieve this. Where all three of these things come together is where you will find me at my happiest.
What goal or aspiration do you have for the next year?
My personal goal for the next year is to be able to grow with Diplomatik by becoming the real expert in the technology behind us. If I am able to translate a client’s needs with a solution by creating or manipulating the systems and applications to work for them, then I will have achieved this.
